Every year, Halloween on Vernon invites children along with their families to dress up in their best costumes and trick-or-treat down Vernon Street on the Trinity campus. Activities and games are also hosted by Trinity College greek and cultural houses.
Breanna Pitta, '27, majoring in Environmental Science, and Public Policy & Law with a minor in Community Action and Eulalia Esquenet, '27, majoring in Political Science, bring their passion for soccer as coaches of the HMTCA middle school soccer team.
Hartford is Home Orientation Program, 25 Years of Do-It Day, HMTCA-Trinity College Summer Program Reaches Record Number of Students and more!
The Trinity College summer programs offered to high school students at Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (HMTCA) reached a record number, with over 70 participants engaged in two enriching experiences: the Summer Writing Institute and the Designing Your College Experience program.
As first-year students began their journey at Trinity College this year, the "Hartford is Home" Orientation Next Program was designed to introduce them to Hartford's vibrant and diverse city. Part of the “Insights into Hartford” series, this two-day program that included different students each day, aimed to immerse students in the Hartford community and show them all there is to know and see in the city.
This year marked 25 years of "Do-It Day", a community service day in which students, faculty and staff work and help community partners and other sites with various tasks. This year 15 sport teams participated, and over 400 students volunteered at 18 worksites. Students were planting trees at Rocky Ridge Park, maintaining the Pope Park Community Garden, and cleaning up various churches.

Now in its sixth year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinic at Trinfo.Cafe is expanding its free tax preparation services and support network through collaboration with the Liberal Arts Action Lab Family Finance Project. These efforts underscore the clinic’s crucial role in supporting low income families and advocating for policy changes in Hartford.
This past spring, the Liberal Arts Action Lab at Trinity College involved fifteen students in two key projects: the Family Finance Project and the Music Education Project. Led by Dr. Derin Atalay and Prof. Joshua Hummel respectively, these projects partnered with community organizations like United Way CT and House of Bread-Jubilee House. The initiatives focused on assessing the impact of a child tax credit and exploring music education for children in urban settings. Through research, interviews, and multimedia content, students addressed significant social issues in Hartford.
